Lady Tomo-e (Wife of Yoshinaka and the Commander of the Kiso-Genji Women’s Force)

Tomo-e was the one and only Commander of the Women’s Force in Japan.  She was well-known for her beauty and for her fierce combat skills which were superior to that of any man; they paled in comparison.  She charged forth alone into the enemy to afford time for Yoshinaka to take his own life during his last battle.  She was then said to have shed all her armor to become and ordinary woman and disappeared forever.
