Today's Ban Mu (Three-Acre) Garden
Beijing Xi Cheng Huang Mi Hu Tong No. 7

2012
Watercolour on Paper
37 x 52 cm

This house belonged to Lin Qing - a Qing Dynasty's high official.  Its garden
"Ban Mu Garden" was very well-known.  Unfortunately it was demolished after 1949.
The gate was an Ornate Broad and Bright Gate.  The outstanding carvings on
the drum stone on both sides of the gate were unique.  This we see in this painting is
the renovated and downsized one, which lost all its former glory.
