Dream - Flying Bird,
Artist Proof, July 24, 1997
Woodcut

Dream:

I saw an oriole fly into the room and perch on the wall. There was a little white on its tail. I recognized it was a small bird, still not familiar with flying. I made an effort and caught it, but at the time I saw another bird perching on the curtain. That was motherof the small bird. She came in from the screen. I immediately released the small bird. With food in its mouth, it spread its wings and flew out to look for its mother above the embroidered white curtain.

In an ancient village, there are two fishermen. One has caught a fish. On drawing his catch in, he places his hands on it, only to find that is not a fish but a snake. In the river another snake swims towards me. I am passing over a bridge, behind it is a big ancient tree, on the way to my Grandmother's home. Certainly, I felt a snake's tail coming out of my right sleeve... In terror I screamed for help. I screamed and screamed. In my panic I cannot manage to undo the button of my cuff. The fishermen help me, strip off and dispose of the snake clothing.
