Art
Beatus Gallery opened its second exhibition space on the podium level
of the Exchange Square, right in the heart of Hong Kong finance
district in mid March. The Gallery hopes to use this space to feature
year round exhibitions for artists of Chinese origin bringing their
works to meet the general public of Hong Kong in a user-friendly
environment and a much more approachable setting.
Art Beatus Gallery was established in Hong Kong in 1992.
In 1996, the gallery chose a direction of showcasing contemporary art
while focusing on artists of Chinese origin. A Vancouver gallery was
also set up in the same year.
Owner of the gallery, Dr. Annie Wong Leung Kit-Wah, also founded a
non-profit art foundation with objectives of promoting contemporary
Chinese art and elevating the international status of artists of
Chinese origin.
Dr. Wong is an enthusiastic art patron and an accomplished traditional
painter.
Since its inception in 1996, the Annie Wong Leung Kit Wah Art
Foundation has involved in over one hundred art-related events and
programs promoting contemporary Chinese art around the world.
Through active participation in international art fairs such as ARCO,
Art Basel, Art Chicago, San Francisco International Art Fair,
Melbourne International Art Fair, Art Beatus Gallery assists the
Foundation in realizing its mandates of promoting Chinese artists and
elevating their international status on a more commercialized level.
Over the past 12 years, Art Beatus Gallery has assisted and worked
with dozens of Chinese artists living in China and other countries
around the world.
The Chinese artists include Chen Danqing, Fang Lijun, Song dong, Yin
Xiuzhen, Luo Brothers, Ji Dachun, Yang Yi, Feng Zhengjie, Feng
Zhengquan, Fung Mingchip, Hong Hao, Liang Shaoji, Allen Chan, Sara
Tse, Qiu Zhijie and Zhuang Hui.
