News Releases -- China's West and Canada's East:  Landscape Paintings of Jack (Jie) Zhou

As a landscape painter, Jack Zhou has made a lot of trips to places depicting the sceneries close to his heart.  In the upcoming exhibition at Art Beatus Gallery, Jack is going to show two series of paintings: sceneries of the western part of China, and the eastern part of Canada, the country that he adopted two years ago.

Jack is the name that he picked up after moving to Canada and Jie, which means victory or swift, is the real Chinese name.  Zhou graduated from the Fashion and Costume Design Department of the University of Beijing in 1991.  He has established himself as a leading oil landscape artist in Beijing, winning numerous awards before moving to Toronto, Canada with his family in 2002.

He is now a member of the Beijing’s Artists’ Association, a member of the Ontario Artists’ Association and a member of the Ontario Visual Artists’ Association. 

In the “China’s West and Canada’s East” exhibition, Zhou will show some of his impressionistic depictions of the remnants of the Tulufan area of China’s west as well as sceneries of Canada’s east, a place that is closer to his family now.
