| Opening Ceremony - February 4,
2005, 6pm - 8pm: The artist will be present at the opening ceremony. Wang Xunliang, aged 43, is new to the art scene of Hong Kong. Art Beatus holds this exhibition for him because we like his creativity as well as the unrelenting challenges that he makes towards the long-established framework of Chinese landscape painting. Wang borrows heavily from the language and techniques of traditional Chinese painting, twists them and turn them into something new. He names his series of works, Motion. Motion, to Wang, means change, deconstruction, re-construction and juxtaposition of the traditional methods. Lines in his ink paintings are formed by strings of dots. Mountains, hilly slopes, paths and bridges in his paintings just keep on rolling, either filling up the whole space of his works or being confined into some defined imageries. Wang, basically, is his own teacher in the art of calligraphy, seal carving and painting and his works speak for themselves. |
