Works
of Qin Chong
September
2 to 29, 2005
---
Black
is the colour of Qin Chong. Occasionally, he may use red to accent or
to arrest attention. The black in his works can be black oil paint,
soot or carbon residue from direct or indirect burning. In fact, Qin is
charting an untrotted path in the way how he approaches his works.
When watching QinÕs works, there is an overwhelming sense of
tranquillity. Through various media, Qin has succeeded in capturing
stillness, the minimal state of existence, the graphic yet elusive
drift of black smoke as well as the artistic finale of a blazing torch.
Qin was born in Xinjiang, China in 1968 and graduated from the Beijing
Academy from Arts and Crafts in 1990. He now lives and works as a
free-lance artist between Berlin and Beijing.
