Beginning on August 5, 1999, Art Beatus Gallery will be presenting an summer exhibition. This is a group exhibition of works by several gallery artists: Wang, Jianwei; Wang, Jinsong; Zhang, Dali; Zheng, Guogu; Rong Rong and Shen Yuan.

A range of two-dimensional works from the Gallery's collection will be presented in the main exhibition spaces along with an video installation.  The exhibition is curate primarily on aesthetic qualities, and will lend a wonderfully light feeling for the summer season.

Wang Jinsong belongs to the representatives of a new kind of realism who have come to the fore since 1989 in Beijing. His type of realism is strange and unreal: figures of different origins meet in open and indeterminate rooms, faceless stereotyped figures and dolls interchange with realistic colored faces which also seem impersonal.

Zhang Dali's tactic is graffiti, and his signature piece is quickly sketched head drawn in profile on the walls of buildings in selected districts of Beijing.

Art Beatus, with galleries in Vancouver, Canada and Hong Kong, focuses on international contemporary art.  The Vancouver gallery is on the upper plaza at 888 Nelson Street.
