Artists will attend the opening ceremony

In the Collect(ive) Imagery exhibition, Art Beatus Gallery will show the recent works of four young Hong Kong artists, Pauline Chan So Yee, Francis Wong Fung Kei, Yvette Fung Suk Ha and Ruby Cheng Pui Yee. They are all graduates of the BA (Fine Art) programme, jointly presented by the RMIT University, Australia and The Art School of the Hong Kong Arts Centre.

The artists will show mixed-media sculptures, paintings and ceramic installation works. They attempt to explore various issues such as sensations of the physical body (Pauline Chan), the socio-cultural impacts on the development of self-ego (Francis Wong), the cityscape (Yvette Fung) and the city life (Ruby Cheng).

Despite the diversified subject matter and art forms being used, there is, indeed, something in common among all the works.  The collection, manipulation and juxtaposition of imagery from the aritsts' personal experiences. The imagery, in a more general sense, reflects the collective memories and expectations of this generation about their own existence and their interaction with the world.
